Drogati, stupratori e assassini imperversano in una Detroit prossima ventura. Un automa costruito per essere invincibile tutore dell'ordine, fallisce la prova. Utilizzando il corpo mutilato dell'agente Murphy, ucciso dalla più micidiale banda della città, viene costruito un altro robot. Ma la macchina oltre ad avere alcuni tratti fisionomici della precedente natura umana, conserva qualche traccia di memoria e quindi anche la capacità di emozioni.
