Di ritorno da un lungo giro d'affari Marc ritrova al moglie Anna sempre più strana e svogliata: siamo a Berlino, in una casa proprio a ridosso del muro che divide la città in due settori. Il marito scopre che Anna ha un amante, la situazione sembrerebbe quella stantia e volgare del triangolo sentimentale mentre la donna piuttosto sta vivendo un'allucinata follia creandosi una vita segreta dalla quale eslcuderà con l'omicidio chiunque tenterà di penetrarvi. Anna inganna il marito e l'amante recandosi in un sordido appartamento dove ha degli incontri amorosi con un mostro, una cosa gelatinosa da cui è interamente dominata. E' la lenta trasformazione di un incubo, è un'ossessione che si materializza.
