Un industriale miliardario mette insieme una squadra internazionale di archeologi e scienziati per indagare su una misteriosa uscita di calore che emana dalle profondità del ghiaccio dell'Antartide. Ciò che scoprono inizialmente li entusiasma, poi li terrorizza: sotto la calotta di ghiaccio c'è una piramide creata da un'intelligenza extra-terrestre.
