Alain è un detective privato che vive a Nizza. Michail un russo emigrato a New York che lavora per la mafia. Quando quest'ultimo finisce la sua esistenza crivellato di colpi sul selciato di una strada del Midi, il primo accorre sul posto e scopre di essere suo fratello gemello, un gemello di cui ignorava totalmente l'esistenza. A questo punto Alain prende il primo aereo per gli States. Riuscirà a ricostruire il passato del fratello (e dunque anche il suo)? Riuscirà, soprattutto, a sfuggire ai sicari che vogliono fargli fare la stessa fine di Michail?
