Nel Cretaceo Aladar un iguanodonte separato dal branco quando era ancora rinchiuso in un uovo viene allevato su un'isola da un gruppo di lemuri. Ma quando una pioggia di meteoriti getta il suo mondo nel caos completo, Aladar cerca e trova rifugio sulla terraferma. Qui si unisce a un gruppo di dinosauri che stanno fuggendo verso un luogo sicuro. Il branco però è costretto a difendersi dalla costante minaccia di famelici predatori.
