Stanca ed esasperata dall’ennesima sospensione dal college del figlio, una madre single costringe il ragazzo (Jonah Hill) a far da babysitter ai tre pargoli dei vicini di casa, in modo da responsabilizzarlo e fargli mettere la testa a posto. La prima sera di lavoro, però, si trasforma in un movimentato giro per la città: per esaudire una richiesta della ragazza che ama, il giovane porta con sé i tre pestiferi bambini recandosi al cospetto di due loschi spacciatori di cocaina.
