Durante una spedizione nella giungla messicana, gli scienziati Fielding e Gunther ritrovano un'antica statua che raffigura Caltiki, dea della morte. Ma il ritrovamento risveglia un orribile mostro che riemerge da un lago. Il mostro aggredisce Gunther il quale, nonostante venga immediatamente soccorso dal collega e riportato in città, è oramai destinato a divenire a sua volta un terrificante mostro. È l'antica maledizione di Caltiki.
