Un gruppo di potenti sta comprando tutte le case del quartiere di Goon Docks con chiari intenti speculativi. Una banda di ragazzini del quartiere, i Goonies, cerca di opporsi, ma non sa neppure da che parte cominciare. Poi, una sera, rovistando in soffitta, i ragazzi scoprono un'ingiallita mappa spagnola che contiene indicazioni precise su come trovare un antico tesoro. La piccola banda penetra così in uno chalet abbandonato e da qui in un labirinto di grotte. I ragazzi però non sanno che il luogo è la base operativa segreta di una banda di ladri capeggiata da "Mamma Fratelli" e dai due suoi violenti figli. Dopo mille peripezie, trappole, fiumi sotterranei e vascelli pirati, i nostri eroi arriveranno al tesoro e salveranno il quartiere.
