Il terrestre Davidge (Quaid) va all'assalto dell'alieno Jeriba (Gossett jr.), un "Dracon" che è entrato con la propria navetta spaziale nell'orbita che non gli competeva. Tutti e due precipitano sul pianeta Fyrine IV, spettrale ambiente con due soli e sei lune, abitato da carnivori umani. A questo punto, è giocoforza mettere da parte gli antichi rancori e passare alla reciproca collaborazione, ma anche così i pericoli sono tutt'altro che cessati.
