Rollie Tyler, che lavora come effettista speciale a Hollywood, viene contattato dai servizi segreti: deve preparare una messinscena per simulare l'omicidio di un mafioso pentito che sta per testimoniare a un processo. Rollie si presta, ma inizia a essere oggetto di attentati che scopre organizzati da un ufficiale corrotto in combutta con lo stesso mafioso. Rollie riesce a cavarsela grazie alla sua abilità con i trucchi, poi si sostituisce al mafioso e recupera l'ingente bottino da lui nascosto in Svizzera.
