1873. Arizona. Uno straniero senza passato si imbatte nella remota città di Absolution, nel bel mezzo del deserto. Unico accenno alla sua storia è una misteriosa sorta di manetta intorno a un polso. L'uomo scopre in fretta che la gente di Absolution non è propensa a dare il benvenuto agli stranieri; e che nessuno fa una mossa per le strade della città, a meno che l'ordine non arrivi da parte del colonnello Dolarhyde. La città che vive sotto il suo pugno di ferro, nella paura. Ma Absolution sta per sperimentare un terrore ben peggiore quando la desolata città viene attaccata dai predoni dal cielo.
