Earl e Enid Keese sono una rispettabilissima, mediocre e prevedibile coppia borghese. Un giorno la villa accanto alla loro si anima per l'arrivo di una nuova coppia, Vic e Ramona. Progressivamente l'esuberanza dei nuovi arrivati contagia anche la vita routinaria dei Keese. Enid scopre una vocazione per lo studio della storia indiana.
