Un ex poliziotto, Tom Carver, oggi passa le sue giornate pulendo le scene del crimine dopo che i corpi sono stati trasportati altrove. Quando una chiamata lo spedisce a casa di un personaggio molto potente, l'istinto di Tom si mette sull'attenti, ma l'uomo decide di non badarci. Il giorno dopo capisce di aver ripulito una scena collegata a un elaborato meccanismo di corruzione delle forze dell'ordine. Chiede quindi aiuto a un ex collega e insieme i due tentano di risolvere informalmente l'omicidio, mettendo a rischio la propria vita.
